Hi Carol,
Here's a recipe that fits your description as far as the ingredients. The only thing that concerns me is the raw eggs. I included some info below for dealing with them. I've seen similar recipes that don't use eggs and the chocolate bars but use chocolate pudding and whipped cream or cool whip. I hope this is a help! - Betsy
CHOCOLATE ANGEL FOOD CAKE
1 angel food cake, cut in half
2 bars German sweet chocolate
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 cup chopped nuts, (optional)
2 tbsp. sugar
4 eggs, separated (pasteurized)*
Additional whipped cream, to garnish(optional)
Coconut, to garnish (optional)
Beat yolks. Melt chocolate and add to egg yolks.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into chocolate mixture.
Whip cream with sugar and fold in chocolate mixture.
Break 1/2 of cake into small pieces and place in 3 quart loaf dish. Pour half of the chocolate mixture over cake and sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts, if using.
Break the remaining half of the cake into pieces and make a layer over the top. Pour the rest of chocolate and nuts over cake (reserve some nuts for garnish, if desired). Refrigerate overnight before serving. Add whipping cream and nuts and/or coconut to garnish cake, if desired.
