COLD OVEN CAKE
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup self-rising flour
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, softened
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
3 cups sugar
1 cup milk
6 eggs
3 tsp lemon extract
Grease and floured a 10-inch tube pan.
Sift flours together 5 times; set aside.
Cream butter and shortening well and add sugar gradually. Add flour, a small portion at a time, alternating with the milk. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add lemon extract. Turn into prepared tube pan.
Put in cold oven. Turn on oven and set at 325 degrees F. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
