Recipe: Haystack Suppers

Misc.
Hi Patty,
In her book, New Recipes from Quilt Country, Marcia Adams descibes Amish Haystack Suppers that are held as fundraisers. She says that all the ingredients are placed out buffet-style, and then people stack their plates with the following: The bottom layer is corn chips or rice, followed by a layer of browned hamburger, then stacked on top of this are layers of kidney beans, chopped tomatoes, lettuce, and grated cheese, then all topped with salsa or heated spaghetti sauce. Does that sound like what you were looking for? I have seen something similar layered right inside a ripped open single-serving bag of Fritos at a craft fair I went to once. Maybe there is a more exact recipe available on the net if you search under Haystack Suppers? Hope this helps a little!
