Recipe(tried): How to Clam Bake in Pot
Misc.ADVERTISEMENT
This is long, I still have the tag that came with my clam bake pot. I'll simplify it as much as possible. In the base pot,put 1 inch of cold water. In the next pot pot a loose layer of seaweed or lettuce. celery stalks or spinach.(we didn't line our pot with anything)Make one bundle for each person.
In a cheesecloth square: wrap large piece of chicken, one medium whole potato white or sweet or both, 1 ear corn, remove silk but leave on husk, unpeeled medium onion, etc. what ever you want to eat, we always added a piece of polish sausage. Make the packages up in size to feed one person. Put in pot and top with another layer of seaweed. Top pot, we put the clams, if you put them in bundles leave them loose so they can open, we just put them in the pot loose. If you have lobster, it goes on top. Cover with another inch of seaweed. In the top center of the pot place one medium potato and cover, when this potato is done, everything will be cooked. It takes about
I 1/2 hours to cook completely. Discard seaweed and enjoy.
Note: It's mostly a matter of taste, put what you want in each bundle and tie it up. We always husked our corn and broke the ears in half. This calls for 4 dozen clams but for ten people you will need more. We dug our own clams so they were plentiful and we filled the top pot with clams.
