Recipe: Marlene Sorosky's Greatest Granola

Breakfast and Brunch
MARLENE SOROSKY'S GREATEST GRANOLA

"This is great for a snack, in milk, or baked in cookies, and it's terrific sprinkled on ice cream or yogurt."

2 1/2 cups regular rolled oats, uncooked
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or soy flour)
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk powder
2 tablespoons light, or golden, brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup seedless dark raisins

In a large howl, combine oats, almonds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, coconut, wheat germ, flour, dry milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon; set aside.

In a small howl, mix oil, honey, and salt; pour over dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Spread in a rimmed baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Stir in the raisins the last 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.

Store in airtight container. May be stored at room temperature or may be frozen.

Makes 5 cups
