Recipe: Meatball Stroganoff with Noodles (Cambell's Soup ad, 1960's)

MEATBALL STROGANOFF WITH NOODLES

FOR THE MEATBALLS:
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg
1 slice white bread, coarsely crumbed
1/2 tsp. salt
Generous dash ground black pepper
FOR THE GRAVY:
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup sour cream
3 cups cooked wide noodles (for serving)

Mix beef, onion, egg, bread, salt, and pepper; shape into 16 meatballs. Brown in skillet (use shortening if needed); pour off drippings.

Add (undiluted) soup and 1/3 cup water. Cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring now and then.

Blend in sour cream; heat. Serve over noodles.

Makes 3 to 4 servings
