Recipe(tried): Mom's Sea Foam (repost)

Hi Amy;
Here's a sea foam recipe my Mom used many years ago, and I have used many times.I posted it for Char last week, she used it and was pleased with the results.
You also might want to read the discussion on making sea foam, it is on the "In the kitchen with Sarah" board. She has some good tips.
Here's the recipe my Mom used, from the 1931 edition of The Household Searchlight Recipe book.
SEA FOAM
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
Combine sugar, water, salt and cream of tartar. Cover and boil 5 minutes. Uncover. Wipe sides of saucepan with a damp cloth. Boil without stirring to firm ball stage(245-248*) Pour slowly, beating constantly, over stiffly beaten egg whites. Add vanilla. continue beating until candy holds its shape when dropped from a spoon. Drop by teaspoonsful onto waxed paper. Sprinkle with colored coconut if desired.
