Recipe: Mr. Wang's Chinese Buffet Egg Drop Soup

This is not from the same restaurant, but another Chinese buffet.

Mr. Wang's Egg Drop Soup
(Serves 2 to 3)

1/2 ounce chicken breast, chopped
6 shrimp (optional)
6 scallops (optional)
4 snow peas, shredded
5 bamboo shoots, diced
4 mushrooms
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon cooking wine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon white or black pepper
6 cups water
4 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 green onion, diced

Boil 6 cups water. Add chicken, shrimp, and scallops and boil again. Add snow peas, bamboo shoots and mushrooms and boil again. Add salt, sugar, pepper and cooking wine, stirring evenly.

Mix 4 teaspoons cornstarch with 1/3 cup water and add to soup while stirring evenly. Add beaten egg to soup, stir slowly, and then remove from heat.

To serve, sprinkle with chopped green onion and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil.
