I stumbled across this recipe while going through clippings to put in my cookbook. I've not made it yet because it's been stashed in a folder for who knows how long. I *think* this is a vintage recipe that was simply reprinted on a self rising flour bag, but I've not done my research yet.
NO FOOL PIE
1 cup self-rising flour
3/4 stick (6 Tbsp.) butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup whole milk, divided use
1 to 1 1/2 cups drained canned fruit
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Melt your butter and pour it into an 8- or 9-inch baking dish. Set aside.
Combine the flour, the sugar and 1/2 of the milk in a mixing bowl. Stir until all of the dry ingredients are moistened. Add the remaining milk to the bowl, and stir until smooth.
Pour the batter into the dish containing the melted butter. DO NOT MIX.
Place the drained fruit on top of the batter in the dish. DO NOT STIR.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until done (golden brown).
