I noticed several folks looking for the old bran muffin recipe using the 100% bran and all bran cereals.... I just made some, using the All_Bran, and in place of the 100% Bran, I used the all bran buds BUT I ran them through my coffee grinder to break them down. Texture of finished muffins is very close, as is the taste. The batter wanted to clump up when buttermilk was added, as the buds were pulverized, so it took more beating to get blended, but I don't think without actually getting the 100% bran again, that I will ever get any closer to original recipe.
