Recipe: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars (using cake mix, Betty Crocker, 1970)

"Bake these ahead of time or while you are preparing the meal and serve them warm."

1 (2-layer-size) package yellow cake mix
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease and flour a (15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch) jelly roll pan.
Blend half the cake mix (dry mix), the 1/3 cup water, buttee, eggs and peanut butter. Mix in remaining cake mix (batter will be stiff).
Stir in chocolate pieces. Spread in prepared pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes.
Cut into (3 x 1 1/2-inch) bars.
Makes about 30 bars
