Recipe(tried): Pound Cake (and ISO: Caramel Buttermilk Frosting)

Desserts - Cakes
My grandmother use to make this cake and had a caramel buttermilk frosting for it. I found the cake recipe but cannot locate the frosting recipe.

POUND CAKE

9 eggs, separated
2 2/3 cups sugar, divided use
1 lb butter
3 1/2 cups plain flour
8 Tbsp cream
2 Tbsp vanilla

Beat egg whites and add 6 Tbsp sugar. Beat until stiff. Place in refrigerator.

Cream butter until soft. Add remaining sugar a little at a time and cream thoroughly. Add yolks 2 at a time and beat. Add flour and cream alternately with egg whites; fold in lightly. Pour in tube pan which has been greased and floured.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
