Recipe(tried): Red Velvet Cake for Lisa's Husband Birthday Cake

Lisa, Hope your husband enjoys his birthday cake!!!!!!!!!
Red Velvet Cake
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 unbeaten eggs
2oz. red food coloring
2tlbs. cocoa
1tsp. soda
1tsp. vanilla
1cup buttermilk
2 1/2cups. cake flour
1tsp. salt
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add flour and salt alternating with buttermilk and vanilla. Add coloring, cocoa ,soda, and vinegar. Beat well .
Bake in 3-8inch round pans at 350 for 30mins.

Icing
1/4 cup flour
1/4tsp, salt
1 cup milk
Cook until thick. Cool completely. Cream together:1cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Beat with electric mixer and add cooled thickening. Now ice your cake.
