Root Beer Float Cake
From: The Best of Country Cooking, 1998
Well, the dinner was a success. The flank steak was to die for! As for the Root Beer Float cake, it is a ucky color, but taste suprising good, if you like root beer. The kids like it alot! So I guess I'll share the recipe so you can Wow your root beer loving friends and relatives.
1 package (18 1/4 oz.) white cake mix
1 1/4 cups root beer
2 eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Frosting
1 packet (1.3 oz.) whipped topping mix
1/2 cup chilled root beer
In a mixing bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds; beat on high for 2 minutes. Pour into greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 min or until wooden pick comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack.
In another bowl, beat frosting ingredients until stiff peaks form. Frost cake. Chill.
