Recipe: Some tried & true recipes
Misc. GREEN RICE
2 cups of cooked rice,
1 pkg of frozen brocoli cooked,
2 cans of cream of chicken soup,
1/2 cup marg, 1/2 cup onions,
8 slices of American sliced cheese,
Melt marg, add onions, saute until cooked, add American chees slices, and stir in until
melted. Then add the two cans of soup. Stir in. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile mix drained brocoli and rice together in a casserole dish. Then add in cheese mixture. Stir until everything is combined. Bake @350 degrees for 45-60 mins.
I have found that younger children who do not like eating brocoli on it's own seem to love this. It makes a change from mashed potatoes, always goes down good at Pot Lucks too.
HAMBURGER CASSEROLE
2lbs hamburger, browned and drained,
1 onion chopped and sauteed until tender,
1 can of cream of celery soup,
American cheese slices, tatertots,
1 can of cream of chicken soup,
a little milk.
Mix soups with one soup can of milk, In a 9"x13" dish layer the bottom with the hamburger and onion, mixed. Pour over the soup mixture. Top with American cheese slices to cover,
Cover the cheese with the tatertots and bake @350 degrees for an hour.
This has a kind of chicken fried steak taste to it and again children love it. It is also another good one for Pot Lucks.
SCALLOPED CAULIFLOWER AND CARROTS
Ilb package of cauliflower, 1lb package of carrots,
1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup shredded cheese,
salt & pepper to taste, Breadcrumbs.
Cook cauliflower and carrots, Drain and place in a buttered baking dish.
Combine soup, milk, cheese, salt & pepper. Pour over vegs.
sprinkle with breadcrumbs and bake @350 degrees for 30 mins.
I do a similar recipe with green beans instead of cauliflower & carrots and using cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom..
