SOUR CREAM DATE DROPS
1/2 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup finely cut pitted dates
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1 cup Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
Beat butter until creamy. Gradually beat in sugars. Blend in egg and vanilla; set aside.
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Coat dates with 1/4 cup of the dry ingredients; set aside.
Add remaining dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Stir in date mixture and oats. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees F) 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 3 1/2 dozen
