Recipe: Spaghetti Sauce (using ground beef, Oster blender recipe, 1950's)

1/2 cup sliced onions
1 small clove garlic
1/4 cup olive oil, divided use
1 pound ground beef
1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms
Hot cooked spaghetti (for serving)
Put the onions and garlic in the container. Cover and run at Lo speed until coarsely chopped.
Saute the onion mixture in 2 tablespoons of the olive oil until slightly brown. Add the ground beef and cook 10 minutes.
Put the cooked mixture in the blender container. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Cover and blend at Hi speed until smooth. Stop once or twice and push the ingredients down to the processing blades with a rubber spatula.
Pour the mixture into a covered saute pan and simmer for 2 hours.
Saute the mushrooms in remaining olive oil until lightly browned. Add to the cooked mixture and heat for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
Serve on freshly cooked spaghetti.
