Recipe: Stuffed Pizza (Bisquick recipe, 1985)

1/2 lb. Italian sausage
1/2 lb. ground beef
3 1/3 cups Bisquick Baking Mix
3/4 cup cold water
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided use
1 (15 1/2 oz.) jar pizza sauce, divided use
Your favorite pizza toppings
Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease rectangular baking dish, 12x7 1/2x2-inches.
Brown sausage and ground beef; drain and set aside.
In large bowl, mix together Bisquick and water until dough forms. Divide dough into two portions, one slightly larger for bottom. On surface dusted with Bisquick, roll larger portion of dough into 16x12-inch rectangle. Place in dish. Press down on bottom and up sides of dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the cheese. Cover with 3/4 cup of the pizza sauce. Add meat mixture and top with your favorite pizza toppings. Cover with 1 1/2 cups of the cheese.
Roll out rest of dough to 1 2x7-inch rectangle. Place on top of cheese layer; roll sides of bottom crust over top crust and press together to seal. Make small slits in top crust to let out steam. Spread top crust with remaining pizza sauce and remaining cheese.
Bake until crust is golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes.
Makes 8-10 servings
