Recipe(tried): Sunday Dinner at Our House - Better than CB's Fried Apples
Misc. Hi, everyone! Today's lunch menu was: Church Pot Roast and gravy, smashed garlic potatoes, Better than Cracker Barrel's Fried Apples, Cheatin' Turnip Greens with Roots, zipper cream peas, CLAUSSEN Pickles, pickled beets, EZ Biscuits, butter, and brownies.
I've previously posted all of the recipes but the fried apple recipe. I LOVE Cracker Barrel's Fried Apples. However, whenever I buy the large jar of fried apples to fix at home, they don't ever taste like the ones that I have at Cracker Barrel. I "doctored" the recipe and my family loved them. I hope that you will, too.
BETTER THAN CRACKER BARREL'S FRIED APPLES
1 jar of Cracker Barrel's Fried Apples
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 T. butter
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
juice from one orange
Put the fried apples in a microwave-safe dish. Mix the sugar, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, and orange juice together and pour over apples. Dot with butter. Cover the dish with waxed paper. Microwave at 50% power for 15 minutes. Remove the dish from the microwave and stir. Put the fried apples back into the microwave and cook them at 100% power for 4-5 minutes.
These are delicious served over Blue Bell's Natural Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. It tastes just like Cracker Barrel's Apple Dumpling without the pastry.
Happy Sunday!
