TASTY CHRISTMAS WREATHS

1/3 cup butter or margarine -- softened
1/3 cup brown sugar -- firmly packed
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1 large egg
2 Tablespoons grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
ICING:
1 cup confectioner's sugar -- sifted

Holly Mix Sprinkles to decorate

FOR COOKIES:
Cream butter and sugars in a large bowl until fluffy. Add egg, lemon zest, and vanilla; beat until smooth.

In a small bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, cardamon, and baking powder. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture; stir until a soft dough forms. Place dough on plastic wrap and shape into four 6-inch-long rolls. Chill for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Cut each roll into 12 equal pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece into a 6-inch-long rope. Twist 2 ropes of dough together. Place on a greased baking sheet. Shape into wreaths and press ends together to seal.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned. Transfer cookies to a wire rack with waxed paper underneath to cool.
