Recipe: Trifle
Misc. Hi: Calimaroo:
Here in the U.S. we use a shortened version called Strawberry Short Cake .
Which is a sponge cake covered with berries, topped with whipped cream and/or Ice Cream. We also use what we call: A biscuit or bisquit (a sort of bread not what the British refer to as a U.S. 'cracker' or 'cookie')
The following recipe is one that I have, I hope you find one that you like, out of all of the responses from TKL -- Nice recipe site - Don't You Think?! ]
STRAWBERRY TRIFLE
INGREDIENTS:
Trifle:
1 baked White Cake of your choice.
2 - 10oz Pkgs Frozen Strawberries
3oz pkg Vanilla Pudding, prepared to directions on the box
1 cup Whipping Cream, chilled
1/4 cup Sugar
Garnish:
1/4 cup Almonds, toasted and slivered
Fresh Strawberries
INSTRUCTIONS:
Bake the cake in an oblong pan as directed, let it cool.
Cut crosswise in half - (reserve 1/2 for another dessert)
Cut the cake to be used for the trifle into small or bite sized pieces.
Arrange 1/2 of the cake pieces on the bottom of a clear serving bowl.
Pour 1/2 of the strawberries and their juice over the cake.
Spread with 1/2 of the pudding.
Repeat with remaining cake, strawberries, juices and pudding.
Cover and chill in the refrigerater for a few hours.
Beat the whipping cream, and sugar in a chilled bowl, until stiff and spread over the Trifle.
Garnish with almonds and fresh strawberries.
About 8 servings.
ENJOY!
You also asked about "Macaroons" they are a what we call a "cookie" usually made with lots of coconut and other flavorings.
