ISO: 1950's Bakeoff recipe - Hot Ziggeties

Misc.
I think these were called Hot Ziggeties. My mother made them from a Bake Off cookbook sometime in the early 1950's. I remember that this recipe was from a man. We children loved them and would ask Mom to make them often. I wish I could remember details of them. They had a hot dog in the middle and then some kind of batter and then were, I believe, baked. They were not corn dogs. Would really like to try these..... there must have been a reason we all loved them so much.
Thanks for any help.
