ISO: 5 spice beef stew

Misc.
I am looking for make-ahead main dish stews..The chinese spice stew sounds terrific! I am limited for prep time except on the weekends...when I can be "around" for more than a couple of hours to simmer or bake...crockery cooking is not a favored method of mine. Thanls for your suggestions!
