ISO: ?? about pineapple

Misc.
Does anyone know why fresh pineapple makes the tongue feel like pins and needles or like it has little razor blade cuts? I love fresh pineapple, but NOT the after effects. It also dries the lips and makes them sore. It's a puzzle to me.
