ISO: Cherry Nougat Cookies - Cherry baking chips?

I was wondering if you had used cherry baking chips or candied red cherry chips. I am trying to order some to make this recipe. I love the Cherry Nougat cookies and can still remember the way they kind of melted in my mouth. I remember the cherry portions being a little crunchy. Is this the texture you are getting with this recipe?

I am going to give it a try once I order chips.
