ISO: Chocolate Frosting (Hersheys cocoa 70's)

My mom used to make a chocolate frosting from scratch when we were kids. She can't remember what went into it. All I remember is it having a "tartness" to it similar to sour cream, cream cheese or buttermilk. She says that to the best of her knowledge, she used the cake and icing recipe from the back of the Hersheys cocoa box in the late 60's earlier 70's. If anyone has a recipe that sounds like this, please help. I would LOVE to be able to walk down memory lane with a bowl full of this stuff . Thanks in advance.
