ISO: Cookies made with crustless white bread, condensed milk and coconut
Misc.ADVERTISEMENT
I'm looking for a recipe and if possible a copy of the original from magazine, cookbook, etc. I don't know the name, just that you cut the crusts from white bread, then cut into three pieces. Then you let it dry overnight. It is important that they dry out thoroughly.
When ready to put together, you dip each "cookie" into sweetened condensed milk, then roll in coconut. Place each one on a cookie sheet coated with cooking spray.
Bake 6 to 10 minutes in preheated 350 F. oven, until lightly toasted. Be careful, as the sweetened coconut flakes tend to burn easily. Remove from baking sheet and let cool.
Note: Could be an Angel flake coconut recipe, or maybe sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand). I'd like to have an original copy, with a picture, if possible.
I know this may be a hard one, especially with no name, but I'm almost positive I've seen a magazine picture of these, and probably an older issue. I like to collect original copies when I can for my vintage collection.
Thank you so much for any help.
