ISO: Elderberry Jam/Jelly

Hi I would like to make my own elderberry jam as I have lots of trees growing wild near my home however I do not own a canning machine therefor I need to know if the same principles apply as with making jam ie heat sugar and juice until temp reaches 220. Thank you
