ISO: Farm Biscuits

Misc.
When I was a child on the farm, twice a day my mother made the best biscuits from scratch. I remember that she did not roll them out but pinched them off and shaped them in her hands, then put them into a well greased pan, turning them over to make sure both sides were liberally "greased". She did not use a recipe. I remember her measuring out baking powder or baking soda and salt with her fingers. She always added new flour to a "well" of flour she kept in a large mixing bowl. Then she added the salt and baking powder (or soda). I'm pretty sure she used buttermilk--mixed all this together (with her hands) and when it was the right texture she started pinching them off and putting them in the pan. She stopped making these biscuits when she had to get a job and actually forgot how to make them. I'm hoping someone out there could help me out with a "recipe" for these. They were so good! Thanks for your help.
