ISO: First time canning

Misc.
This is my first time canning. I bought a 921 All American Pressure Cooker/Canner. In any event I bought it so I could can chicken soup I like to make. I then read in the directions to only can tested receipes. Does this mean I should not try to can my own and only use receipes in canning cookbooks? Any thought would be helpful.
