I need help salvaging some old recipes. I am trying to put my family recipes in a book and here is one I'm have troubles with. They weren't very good at writing the directions, they usually jotted things down on paper and knew what to do with them. Both of my grandma's had this recipe but one book was so old it was rotting and I couln't read it and the other grandma didn't write much down. Here is what I have salvaged:

Hodge Podge

1 gallon sliced and peeled cubes,
cut in small pieces
1 cabbage chopped
4 onion
4 c. sugar
1 glass mustard (15 c. size)
about 2 T. mustard
1 c. vinegar
1 t. black pepper
1 t. salt

------- and-------
Hodge Podge Pickles
AND THESE INSTRUCTIONS - note from rotten book

Boil until done
Add sugar and flour last to thicken.

If there is anyone that can help me salvage this recipe for me, that would be so wonderful.
