ISO: Home Made Date & Nut Bread

I just started searching for Date-Nut Bread recipes and found this web site.  When I was growing up in the 60's, my aunt would make home-made date-nut bread.  We all knew she was getting ready to make it when she asked that we save all metal cans; mostley from vegetables.  I d ono know the recipe, but I do know that the mix was put into all the cans and the cans put in the oven for baking.

Would anyone have a similar recollection and a recipe to go along.
