ISO: inexperienced chef to plan 4th of july

Misc.
I am having 6 for an afternoon bbq on 4th of july. I have never bbq'd, and am sure someone will help with my small webber bbq, but I want to prepare chicken breasts so that they are ready to go on the grill when my guests arrive. I will probably be making a pasta salad and cornbread to go with.
I don't even know if there is a difference between bbq and grill, but mine is the charcoal kind.
