ISO: Needin g some help in planning a menu for a Bridesmaids Luncheon, It's this Fri.

Misc.
HI all, My daughter and I are hosting a Bridesmaid's Luncheon this next Friday the 17th and we are in need of some suggestions for things to go with the Sesame Chicken we are making as the main dish. The big this is, the bride is lactose intolerant, so we must be very careful. Our daughter lives out of state and won't even get into town until late Thursday afternoon, so we are going to have to hustle to get everything done and looking nice.
I have served wild rice and baked glazed carrots with this meal before, but I'm not sure that these young ladies would like the rice and carrots. We will have homemade bread, we are going to have a fresh fruit salad too. Now we need some great suggestions for a vegetable and a great dessert to end the meal with. We would appreciate any suggestions and recipes that you have tried and know are good and preferably easy to make!!
One thing we have done, is we emailed all the ladies attending the luncheon and asked them to send us pictures of the bride and groom from when they were infants until they graduated college and became engaged. We have a place in town that will make us a DVD that will show all of the picture and even have the musice we have requested to play as a background while showing the picture. We have gotten some really great picutures. We are hoping that they will be surprised and very happy to have this DVD that show a collection of their lives from the beginning up to the time of their wedding.
So, please put on your thinking caps and help me to think of a good vegetable and dessert to serve with the Sesame Chicken we will be making. Thanks to all with any help you can give us. Take care and God Bless!!
