ISO: phillipino style fried rice

my husband was in the navy and still raves about the fried rice the cooks on ship made. they were phillipino and he said they did something different from the traditional chinese versions i have tried. does anyone have a recipe for this? is there a certain spice i might be leaving out? any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much.
