ISO: pickeled or sour green beans

Misc.
Looking for directions for canning sour green beans. My grandmothe was raised in the smokey mtns. and she made and canned what they called pickeled green beans. This was done similar to sour kraut, with only salt. Does anyone know how to can. My mother did it in jars but my grandmother did it in a crock. Would appreciate any help on this matter as they both passed away and so goes the receipe.
Thank you very much,
Robert Reed
