Recipe: Soft Sour Cream Date Nut Cookies (1972)

SOFT SOUR CREAM DATE NUT COOKIES

1 cup margarine, softened
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
I tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp, salt
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans

In large bowl of electric mixer, cream margarine and sugar on medium high speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add sour cream and vanilla; set aside.

Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture and continue beating. Stir in dates and pecans. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 12 minutes.

Makes 6-7 dozen
