ISO: Sunbeam Bread Machine - bread problem

I have just purchased the Sunbeam Bread Maker ...Every loaf, which is many, with many different recipes...have not worked. The bread does not rise much. The loaf is hard and dense and sometimes not done in the middle. I have adjusted yeast, salt, water. I am at a total loss!!!!
