ISO: Tried and True Pumpkin Soup

Here is my delima I am wanting to entertain at my house;(No its not new or even redecorated),I just want to show off my culinary skills. Well I want to serve salmon with green beans and rice pilaf with cheese cake for dessert. Well I want to start the meal off with pumpkin soup and I have looked thru some cookbooks and I have not seen THE one recipe that stands out.
