That is the exact recipe, Betsy.
I remember butter, not shortening. My mother used shortening in everything, but this was Dorthy's (my New Jersey mother-in-law) recipe and she only used shortening for crusts.

We didn't add the cream cheese frosting though. We only made butter cream and it was delightful.

I cannot thank you enough, Betsy. I shall carefully file this recipe so that I won't lose it again. Plus, I shall have to make it every holiday... just to ingrain the recipe in my brain forever and ever.
