Recipe: Bread Pudding (using bread or cake cubes)

BREAD PUDDING

4 cups day old bread or cake cubes (1/2-inch inch)
2 cups milk
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg (or cinnamon)
1/4 cup raisins

Butter a 1 1/2 quart baking dish; put bread or cake cubes into dish.

Beat the milk, eggs, sugar and nutmeg together and pour mixture over bread; let stand until bread is thoroughly soaked. Mix in the raisins.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 to 30 minutes; serve warm.

Makes 4 to 6 servings

Hi Frederick,

You can substitute leftover cake, donuts, cinnamon rolls, etc. for the bread in bread pudding recipes. I would use less sugar when using cake, donuts or sweet rolls.
