I gave this as my home made gift in 1990. It was very well received and as you said quite good. Unfortunately, I promptly lost the recipe. I packed this into zip lock style bags. Tied up the seasoning packet with ribbon and included it in the beans bag. This was then packed with can of stewed tomatoes in a unbleached muslin bag decorated with a holiday stencil. I believe I used pinking sheers to avoid a top hem for the the bag and tied it with jute for a "country look." Making the cloth bags was very inexpensive and easy. Cut rectangles to size, fold in half-right sides together- seam up the sides and turn inside out. Give them a quick press and pack.
