Brinkman Smokers

Misc.

My husband has had a charcoal smoker - an electric smoker - and now a gas smoker. All were Brinkman brand.

Of all of the smokers - I think we liked the electric one least of all. Seems that the taste of the food is a little less smoked than the others. However, while we had the electric one (before the gas) we thought it was great.

A secret that my husband learned from a friend is to soak the wood chips you use and then wrap them in heavy duty aluminum foil and punch a few holes in it with a fork. This helps the wood to smoke and not burn up to quickly. Also, another great idea is to add fruit juice or even beer to the water pan while it is smoking. Apple juice or Pinapple juice are our favorites.

It is best to experiment with the vents a couple of times. Until you master the art of smoking - you will get meat that is too smokey or not smokey enough. Don't give up - once you get the hang of it the food is wonderful.

If you can handle the gas smoker in your location, I would recommend it first. If however, you can't handle the gas one - the electric is great also.
