Recipe: Chocolate Fluff Frosting (using pudding mix and whipped topping)
Desserts - Fillings, FrostingsCHOCOLATE FLUFF FROSTING
1 pkg (4-serving size) cook-and-serve chocolate or chocolate fudge pudding mix (not instant)
1 1/3 cups milk
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla, divided use
1 envelope Dream Whip whipped topping mix*
1/2 cup very cold milk*
Combine pudding mix and 1 1/3 cups milk in saucepan. Cook as directed on package. Remove from heat. Add butter and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Cover surface with waxed paper and refrigerate until completely chilled, about 2 hours.
Prepare topping mix with 1/2 cup milk and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla as directed on package. Stir into chilled pudding.
Makes about 3 cups, enough to fill and frost a 9" layer or angel cake. Refrigerate cake until ready to serve. Store any remaining cake, covered, in refrigerator.
*You may substitute 1 (8 oz) carton of thawed Cool Whip or 1 cup sweetened whipped cream for the envelope of prepared Dream Whip and 1/2 cup cold milk used to prepare it. The Cool Whip will be closer in flavor and texture to the Dream Whip and the whipped cream will add more fat to the recipe and will give a richer consistency.
