Hi,
Look into the Proctor Silex brand of crock pots. I'm on my second one the first lasted 8 years. A couple of good features are removeale crock,auto heat shift and they make a family size. They have on in stainless steel. Also I reccomend Mable Hoffmans Crockery Cookery recipe books I have 3.
