Food Processor recommendation

Misc.
Hi Koo:-) I have a very old Cuisinart food processor. I'm fairly sure that it only has a seven cup capacity. It seems to fit most of my needs, though, sometimes, I wish that I had one with a larger capacity. I use it for chopping all of the veggies needed for gumbo, shredding cabbage for cole slaw, grating cheese, slicing potatoes for scalloped potatoes, and I have used it for pie dough. The motor has no problem handling these jobs. One thing that I'm not crazy about is that the feed tube is quite narrow, or small. With mine, I sometimes have to pare down the size of a particular vegetable (such as a potato) in order to fit it in the feed tube. I believe that the new ones have a larger feed tube. The Kitchen Aid seems to get very good reviews, as does the Cuisinart. I have looked at both, and the feed tube on the Kitchen Aid seems to be a bit wider/larger than the feed tube on the Cuisinart. In the end, choose a processor that will fit your needs, and is powerful enough to handle the jobs you want it to perform. If that processor comes with some extra "bells and whistles" great but just make sure what you buy will handle perogi dough. I realize that both the Cuisinart, and the Kitchen Aid are expensive processors. I have gotten many years out of mine, so, sometimes it's just worth it to spend the money for a powerful one, that has a good reputation.
