Food Saver the cheap way

Misc.

There's a REALLY easy way to almost vaccuum pack your freezer goodies in
plastic freezer bags. Fill the bag, press excess air out by hand if you wish,
and partially seal the top, leaving a small space opened or "unzipped." Then
carefully lower the bag into a bowl or sink of water. You can quickly press all
the remaining air out. The bag will collapse tightly around the contents giving
you excellent results. I used to have one of those vaccuum sealers but it was a
cheap one and I fussed and fiddled only to have air pockets remain in the bags.
The water method actually works better. Another popular kitchen tip is to suck
the air out with a straw. Yuck!
