IMHO Plain, Here's Why

Hi, Grace! I haven't made any of the recipes, but my interpretation would be plain mashed and not with either milk or butter. Either would change the make-up of the batter in such a way that the recipe would have mentioned it if that is what was called for (at least, if I were writing the recipe that's what I'd do--LOL!). If you make one, I hope you let us know how it turned out.
