During lunch two days ago, we sampled some of the new items such as the spicy Ping Pong Shrimp and Ping Pong Chicken. For these two appetizers, shelled shrimp and bite-sized cuts of chicken are lightly breaded and deep-fried before they are tossed in a "firepot" sauce of sesame oil, hoisin and other spices. Each order is placed in a bamboo steamer, the kind used by Chinese tea houses, and then topped with a tasty salsa of chopped mango, pineapple, tomato, onion and cilantro. This salsa popped up in a few other dishes including Grandma's Firepot Fish, blackened mahi-mahi and shrimp over white rice.
