My DH is less impressed with "clean" than with "tidy". (There's a BIG difference, as anyone in a marriage with one of each can tell you!) He'll tidy the junk mail if I haven't thrown it out. If he comes home to a completely bare coffee table, end table, TV top, etc., he's happy. If I removed everything in the room except the furniture, he'd be really impressed. I guess this limits the dusting I can be expected to do...

There! There's my tip: get rid of everything except the furniture, and you'll have less dusting to do. Also: get light-colored wood furniture, and you'll dust even less! (I never was into knick-knacks anyway.)
